Aliquippa residents, city employees and county workers continued the cleanup of Franklin Avenue and the surrounding streets Saturday after Thursday's flood.

Aliquippa Fire Chief David Foringer said work to remove debris and dirt from the streets and buildings was progressing, and crews would continue to work through today.

Officials did not have any more information regarding how many homes and buildings were damaged or a list of all of the communities affected by the flooding.

Franklin Avenue was reopened at both ends Saturday, but Foringer said the road will be closed again today while crews continue to clean.

Franklin Avenue was still very dusty Saturday afternoon. Someone placed a hand-written sign in the middle of the road that said, "Slow. We can't breathe dust."

Foringer said officials would reassess the status of the cleanup Monday morning and would have more information available then.
